I think this photo (which itself is well over a decade old) made the point better and with humour.

Mainframes are amazing; working at IBM was like free business school for techies; and I coauthored a Redbook. IBM was a strong early supporter of OSS & Linux was my primary OS on my laptop for years. It wasn’t all roses but I am grateful for my time there & for the people I met.
