Water quality on Roding (sewage road & agri) is a major issue, but there’s no legitimate reason Roding shouldn’t be a swimmable river & an incredible natural resource for communities through which it flows to enjoy. We hope guardians testing water will help to make it a reality

Evergreen advice from this Victorian election poster from 1874.

Very much relevant to how you use your vote today, exactly 150 years later.

Incredible chutzpah from Welsh government in rejecting bathing water status for the River Wye, as testing the water to see if it’s dangerously polluted might encourage swimmers who could damage the river. If only they cared as much about damage from water co’s or agri pollution?

One of the best things about my work is getting to meet kind, principled nature protectors from around the country. Marion from SAVE OUR TREES is a prime example: a lovely person who has spent last 15 months giving her all to fight for the Wellingborough limes

The illusion humans are separate from nature is at the heart of the environmental crises we face. I’m supporting the ‘We Are Nature’ campaign to change the definition of nature to include humans. Do show your support, because we are all part of nature!

At Royal Courts of Justice with the brave tree campaigners SAVE OUR TREES for their judicial review challenging the decision of North Northants Council to allow the felling of the Wellingborough Lime Trees, one of the longest avenues of lime trees in the country & protected by TPO’s

I joined Cafe Hope for tea on Radio 4 today to talk about being a lawyer for nature, community river care & the idea that the protection & restoration of nature in the UK needs a groundswell of ordinary people to become guardians of nature:

Just had the riverside tree planter’s ultimate compliment: a kingfisher using a willow sapling I planted this winter as a wobbly perch, before darting into the water, emerging triumphantly with a small silvery fish & flying off with a burst of high pitched squeaks.

Media have picked up issue of Hoad’s Wood this weekend, with stories in Independent, BBC, Standard & elsewhere.

Thread below about leachate from the illegal landfill shows why this is a race against time. Environment Agency must commit to a full clean up NOW

I am a great believer in letting nature have its way. But this fat wisteria in Sheen, south-west London, is truly extraordinary. Are the residents very thin? The gap is about 10 inches.

'You don’t need to own land to care for it & don’t need permission to act on nature’s behalf.'

Last night I joined a group of nature guardians & advocates to launch our book ‘Wild Service’ into the world, in a ceremony of poetry, song & oratory for a new relationship with nature

Off to London to meet my fellow authors after we spent an emotional night around a fire basket in a wood. Immensely proud to be among them. There are authors you know, & authors you may not yet know, that will move you & blow your socks off. This is more than a book.
