On the way south flying NZ1 tonight JFK to AKL. Our flight plan took us just north of Washington, DC. Recent rain this afternoon cleared out any dust in the atmosphere, so a clear view as we flew over. Magic.

Some of you will realise our 787 fleet have been cycling through Amarillo, Texas for wing repainting. One of our special liveries is having a total repaint. Here is the teaser…looking shiny! More tomorrow when it operates KAMA to KIAH, then on to NZAA as NZ29.

Such a beautiful evening in Vancouver tonight. Pleased to bring another full load of customers across the Pacific to Auckland. 13 hours and 15 mins the flight time. Probably going to jinx it, however the forecast tonight looks smooth.

Operated this beautiful ⁦Air New Zealand⁩ 787 today from LAX to Amarillo, TX. 12 of our 787s will cycle through this paint facility over the next 10 weeks for some paint work. Pic 1 is at LAX prior to push, pic 2 is a gorgeous sunset shot and pic 3 is ZK-NZJ in the paint hangar.

2 layover days in Perth. Rode out to Fremantle both days. Great biking infrastructure. Highlight was helping someone take their kids for a ride on the train from Fremantle - Perth return. Short on cash, train was leaving and $5 fixed it! Random acts of kindness is underrated.

Turned up to work to operate AKL MEL AKL as Crew Control rang to say they have called out another Captain today (due no First Officer available). It was my brother! Haven’t flown with him for 10 years or so. Two Captain Kirks today!
