Trauma isn't just about what's happened to us.

Often it's about what hasn't happened for us.

Too often we think of trauma as a sequence of events. Let us remember, that the absence of something, someone, qualities or experiences, are often sufficient.

Throughout implementation of trauma responsive systems such as the #RegulationFramework we talk about this constantly.

In order to teach these skills we must expose our young people to the experiences of co regulation.

Skills stem from experience.

Post trauma, the fluctuations between feeling nothing & feeling everything, can be very difficult.

That's why the phrase 'Inability to tolerate intense emotions' is so ignorant.

For many, they have been experiencing intense emotions for far too long. Without support.

We joined Poundbury Rotary Club for a few hours of fundraising this afternoon, whilst they were at #Poundbury garden centre.

Only 1 child cried and 1 dog seemed particularly upset too 😂, but lots of smiles were seen and quite a few tree hugs were shared 💚
