NEW: DPS sent troopers to the University of Texas today at the 'request' of Gov. Greg Abbott, the agency confirms in a statement, 'in order to prevent any unlawful assembly and to support UT Police.'

Law enforcement have now arrested a FOX 7 Austin photographer.

Now: Students are peacefully dispersing. Officials from UT Austin and police declined to comment on why the peaceful protest was told to disperse. Police have stopped blocking speedway.

UT Austin occupied by Texas state troopers. What happens on the border, comes back to the heartland.

This protest has at least tripled in size in the last two hours. The university banned them from protesting on this South Lawn, but they are setting up tents. Law enforcement having a hard time breaking it up.

This has gotten exponentially more violent and out of control since DPS began dispersing protestors. At least 5 arrested now. Watch:
