Well, back to Boston. Sarah has been having pain while breathing (mostly laying down at night). Got very bad last night, did not get any sleep. Did xray yesterday, ruled out fluid. They need to see her to figure out what is going on.

Phew! Chest tubes and pacing wires are out - finally! Minimum blood spatter around the room too, was pretty clean execution. Sarah is feeling SO much better with all that crap out. Ordered lunch, gotta start eating.

Sarah took a nice long walk and looks like chest tubes will be coming out very soon. Once those are out we expect a better appetite and more smiles! Right now just resting/waiting, was a busy morning.

Sarah just ate 2 gram crackers, and is drinking. This is great. Big tasks today: get walking and get chest tubes out. Working on food and fluids now. Based on her current status, I would expect we will be here until at least end of Thurs.

Sorry for no updates. I actually got sent to the hotel room last night to SLEEP. Wow, what a difference that makes. Ready to do work today. Sarah and Judi got through the night, not a ton of sleep, but her pain seems good.

Plans changed, moving out of ICU to the Floor (think moving from the holding tank to the big-boy penitentiary) at 5:30. Just waiting for a bed... Right now she is going to be in a double, but no cell mate yet.

Doesn't look like we will get out of ICU today - Sarah has slowed down a bit. She was nauseous earlier today which prevented her from getting her mandatory walk in. Plus no rooms available on the floor. No need to rush - ICU room is pretty spacious!

Sarah had a pretty sleepless night, but during which she got many IVs removed. Few small ones and her 2 (yes 2...) chest tubes. She just got up and walked to the bathroom - that is big. Now she will sit for a while. Things are moving fast!

Finally cut the sleeping meds at about 9pm and had her extubated (remove the breathing tube) by 9:30pm. Sarah did much better on the extubation, think it might be experience. She is in good spirits, talking a little, and asking for water!

Got to see Sarah in ICU looks pretty good considering. They need to keep her asleep until 8pm. So we headed out to get some food and a much needed beer at Tasty Burger by Fenway. Hit the spot.

Sarah should be up in the ICU by now. We wont be able to go u until 415 to see her. Lots of stuff to move and hook up.

Off bypass about 10 mins ago - so that is great! Valve works great, went in nicely. Closing up now. Probably another 30-40 mins. Then off to ICU!
