Sen. Marsha Blackburn Don't like 'socialism'? Then let's end all federal subsidies to red states that take more than they give.
Sen. Marsha Blackburn So, you don't want any of the infrastructure money for Tennessee or any of your citizens to receive Social Security or Medicare or have National Parks or Police or Fire Protection services or Public Schools or a Military to protect them or a Postal Service to deliver mail?
Sen. Marsha Blackburn No one is trying to convert us to 'Socialism'. We are a democracy, a capitalist nation, and we have social policies in place to protect our citizenry. How'd your constituents react if you took away their fire depts, their police depts, healthcare, etc. Think they'd be happy?
Sen. Marsha Blackburn Says the Senator from a state heavily reliant on Socialism. In a population of about 7 million, roughly 952,000 or 13.6% live below the poverty line in your state Marsha. How's Capitalism working for them Marsha ?
Sen. Marsha Blackburn Yet,
Tennessee 398,078 households receiving SNAP August 2022.
Tennessee isn't paying its way as the state's residents and government are taking more from the federal government than they're putting in.
Your state seems to need our Social programs.
Sen. Marsha Blackburn Tell Tennessee farmers to give back their subsidies then. Don't take any of the infrastructure money Tennessee will get. You won't. Why? P.S., I believe farmers deserve subsidies to keep our food chain strong. Tenn SHOULD have safe roads. That's 'socialism'.
Sen. Marsha Blackburn 'Socialism' is just a word for what a society pays for collectively, like:
- Public schools
- Public libraries
- Police and fire
- Roads and bridges
- Clean water
- National Parks and Forests
- US Mail
- NASA
- The military/defense
- Social Security
- Medicare/Medicaid
- ...
Last year, President Biden signed legislation to make big corporations begin to pay their fair share.
Now, heโs calling on Congress to pass a billionaire minimum tax โ ensuring that the wealthiest Americans no longer pay a lower tax rate than teachers and firefighters.
One highlight we didnโt see coming from the Recording Academy / GRAMMYs show? Chris Stapleton and Stevie Wonder on stage together. Love it!
