Hero of legendary voyages in the Atlantic Ocean, Brendan studied under S. Jarlath of Tuam, becoming both monk and priest, and later founding several monasteries in Ireland and Scotland.

Born this day in 1842, Sir Arthur Seymour Sullivan was an English composer. He is best known for 14 operatic collaborations with the dramatist W S Gilbert with whom relations were not always harmonious! Hymns and songs include 'Onward, Christian Soldiers' and 'The Lost Chord'.

Here's a #Lunesdale staircase tower, a feature of the area. Often built on the back of existing dwellings the towers housed steps replacing early spiral staircases and ladders, creating safer access to floors above. They were status symbols, visible from afar.
