Here begins Cave Painting, my next project. I am here for the next ten days, songwriting in a cave in France. I’m sleeping in a cottage because it’s a bit chilly at night, but by day I’ll be in the cave experimenting with creative square breathing. I wonder how I’ll get on…

I made it to France. Album delivered. Cave tomorrow. Taking a moment. What a week.

And at 2.05am that my dear friends is a wrap. Album 6 is complete. Time to book a mastering suite. ❤️

Day 9 of 9. So close. We got 6 mixes done yesterday so 4 left to go. Various challenges to navigate presented themselves but all were met head on and I just cannot believe this record is nearly, nearly in the can. The very best of all worlds. Thank you Eth, Jon and Neil. ❤️

Day 8 of 9. We have ten mixes to do in two days. If there are no nasty surprises this one will be landed. I leave my wonderful cousins in Bath today and tonight will point my nose back to friends in Bristol. So much kindness everywhere, so many people helping me.

Bath Spa station. Day 7 of 9 awaits. I think we got all the last little bits of music recording done yesterday. A little bit of picked acoustic guitar, some unhinged mellotron choir. Now it’s the downhill run to finish the mix by Wednesday. A deadline is a very good thing.

Waiting for a train at the end of day 5 with the maestro and my heart is exploding with joy. There is nothing quite like the love bomb of music making in your life, when you get to work with exceptional humans to transform emotions into sound 🔥 ❤️ 💥

Train to Eth day 4. Never seen so much awesome mandolin / hammond / high strung action in all my life.

This will be the most beautiful uplifting show. Are they playing near you? ❤️ 🌟

Beautiful morning and walk through Bristol this morning.

Adventure phase 1 is afoot. Train Cambridge to Bristol w/ obscenely heavy suitcase full of books & a guitar rig. Staying a few nights with Hannah Rose Platt freddiethebassist who kindly put me up in Bristol while I work on magnum opus with the maestro. #album

Packing up for adventures. 1) going to be with Eth for a week to work on / finish? / not finish? the album…. Then 2) cave adventure writing songs in cavernous solitude begins, two weeks in France. More posts to follow. Totally overexcited, in full puppy mode. #songwriting

6am it transpires is quite a nice time to be fiddling around with a string arrangement.

In exactly one week I’ll be back in studio. I’m on the bus home listening to our January mixes with fresh ears having put them away for a while. So excited for this next stage. Making records is amazing.

I’d love to see you at my tour starting NEXT WEEK to celebrate my new album coming out and play you all the songs from it (and some oldies but goodies).
