अर्जुन ने गीता अध्याय 7 श्लोक 12-15 में पहले सुना था कि तीनों गुणों यानि त्रिगुणमयी माया अर्थात् रजगुण ब्रह्मा जी, सतगुण विष्णु जी तथा तमगुण शिव जी आदि देवताओं को पूजने वाले उन्हीं तक सीमित हैं।
