A5 If I was still teaching I would definitely include podcasts because the technology is now so much easier and flexible. Short podcasts on key concepts and common misunderstandings would be a good starting point.

A2 Just wondering where trust enters the equation. Compassion must be recognised as genuine for a full response. What is we do not trust the person who seems to be behaving compassionately?

A5 The answer to this question depends on how the management are implementing (or even permitting use of) the technology that staff could use to improve their working life. Tech can work both ways!

A3 Judging by several conversations I have had recently with staff in universities across the UK the rhetoric of wellbeing often fails to translate into practice.

A1 One way that HEIs could show more understanding of their staff is to abandon the standardisation of rules and regulations which seems so prevalent.

A4 I think it might be more useful to abandon the term ‘fun’ altogether as it has so much baggage with certain colleagues. If we focus on what students might feel by the end of the session and plan accordingly (and ignore the labels) then we might make more progress.

A2 In terms of the atmosphere/climate in the class then my experience is that students of typically take their primary cues from the tutor. So the main resource is your own personality.

A6 Think that we need a new approach for both students and staff which recognises that the IT landscape has changed. We can achieve what we want with a variety of techniques and kit. We should be encouraging everyone to find the strategies that suit them.

A5 Isn’t it possible to have some university-wide strategy which covers things like attribution and fair use and then we let courses/programmes decide on the limits of specific uses to suit their disciplines?

A4 Issn’t this a question for a course team to answer? It would not be sensible for very tutor to dive into GenAI off their own bat but shouldn’t the course have a coherent strategy?

A3 If we do not engage then some learners will use it badly and we will fail to learn from those students who will become experts regardless.
