Today starts the commemoration of the Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. I’m thinking about the sisters, dads, grandmas of my Rwandan friends - relatives that should still be alive. Cannot imagine the pain & mourning, but understand that they can never be replaced

Why it is important to use the correct terminology when commemorating the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
(A thread)

1) It is important to know that before the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, there were other massacres of the Tutsi people in preparation for the 1994 Genocide.

Today marks the 27th year we remember the Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. Over 100 days, more than one million Rwandans were killed. We remember those who perished and honor the courage of those who survived. Our hearts are with you always.
