Maryland lawmakers OK'd a plan for the state to take ownership of Pimlico Race Course, spend hundreds of millions of dollars on a renovation and run thoroughbred racing there.

The Maryland Senate has now voted 41-6 to approve the plan for the state to take ownership of Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore.

It heads now to the House of Delegates, which must sign off on changes that the Senate made.
