On January 31, 2018, my son Ethan was shot in the head in his best friend's house. The father/gun owner stored 3 handguns and ammunition in a shoebox. Ethan's friend had been accessing the guns for over 6 months.

At the hospital, the ER doctor slid

I’m angered by so many aspects of this piece, especially as a pediatrician and my connections to South Carolina. But let me be clear— when hospital leaders put optics over patients’ health, they are choosing to make children suffer.

It’s been 22 years of limitations on liquids and mandatory shoe removals for airplane security post 9/11.

It’s been less than a day since the last mass shooting in the US, with over 470 shootings in 2023 so far, and apparently we’ve just accepted this as normal.

When MADD (mothers against drunk driving) was formed, statistics were exactly the same: 25,000 deaths per year.

Now there are only 10,000.

Imagine saving 15,000 from suicide every year.
