I love how the basic premise of this is a complete dissolution of the union but for whatever reason the rebelling forces still abide by the administrative boundaries of the former United States.

Personally, I have reported numerous stories that likely frustrated and even angered Office of Mayor Rex Richardson Rex Richardson at times, but even he sees the value in our work and is looking to preserve journalism in Long Beach as Melissa Evans and Jeremiah Dobruck actively decimate it

The Long Beach Media Guild waited for over a week for our board and CEO @MelissaEvansLB to recognize our union so we could begin negotiations to save jobs. That effort was met with 9 layoffs Friday that gutted the newsroom — but we are resolved to save these papers. We need your help. 🧵

Today our CEO, Melissa Evans, laid off me and almost the entire staff at the Long Beach Post

We were all willing to sacrifice so much to keep this paper alive, but she wasn’t.

Now it’s going to die, and it’s her fault

This is unacceptable.

I spent nearly 7 years helping build trust in LBC, especially with communities of color, and was happy to see it continue w/ current staff. These layoffs are undoing over a decade of that work.

I am heartbroken by this. Kat is an excellent journalist as are the other pros at the Long Beach Post. It's crucial that the Post find a way forward that is fair to staff that has served the community so well.

I guess after 12 years at the Long Beach Post this is how I find out I’ve been laid off.

After 8 years with the Long Beach Business Journal and Long Beach Post, I just was laid off along with most of my colleagues. Management just decimated local news coverage for one of the largest city’s in California. It’s disgraceful and Long Beach deserves better.
