You might not know it, given how often I write against evangelical theologies of hell. But I’m actually a universalist who hopes there’s a hell.

It took Wayne Grudem until his 70's to finally admit that it was okay for women to divorce their husbands over abuse. That's how obsessed he's been with sacralizing male authority over women. So his retirement from teaching is a good thing. May he never teach again.

Man A: God wants reality to be a sovereignty hierarchy of authority and submission.

Man A: (owns slaves)

Man B: Man A was a great theologian!

Person C: His theology of hierarchy led him to own slaves.

Man B: His theology was right and had nothing to do with him owning slaves!

I'm reading through Christa Brown's 'Baptistland,' and thought it was really interesting how she pointed out the experience of mealtimes. It reminded me of a short story I wrote called 'Home' that described a similar experience. Mealtimes must be a common wound.

I really enjoyed reading 'Fearing Bravely: Risking Love for Our Neighbors, Strangers, and Enemies' by Catherine McNiel ☕📚🌱. This may be my favorite section of the book. It demonstrates my theology well. I'm simply unwilling to accept & celebrate a good news that is less than shalom.
