We're grateful for a research --> practice bridge stronger than the typical:

1-way communication 'I'll publish or disseminate a paper that teachers should read'

or transactional 'I've got a study I'm running.'

Actual *partnerships* are rare but so needed to get reading right.

And the sentence most important to Reid

''[SOR] could destroy itself if paired with impossible promises and unrealistic expectations.
Let us all ensure that the science of reading is not the next educational trend destined to fade by being careful about how we use the phrase.'

Could not be more happy that the newest of Perspectives is *not* behind a paywall.

It includes the paper Reid Lyon says will be his last, and great pieces by Dr. Elsa Cárdenas Hagan, Kareem J. Weaver, Tim Odegard, Kate Cain, Linnea Ehri, and so many more.

Loved drafting questions and pulling resources together for this discussion guide!

Even better has been hearing how discussions unfolded

New Blog:

'Decisions about what will be taught and for how many minutes determine the daily experience of students and how much they learn in school.

I see change unfolding across the country, and this makes me feel excited but also deeply worried.'

I read this Kareem J. Weaver gem on the same day I rediscovered my notes from Mitchell Brookins, Ph.D.

'When you are Black, you know that the system is not designed to develop your literacy.'

So much to think about, talk about, and DO in response to these paired quotes.
