I asked half a dozen comms and marketing types if the Tories were making deliberately terrible ads for clicks.

Their overwhelming response was 'what are you, an idiot?'

Is this a case of people always saying politicians should resign? To test we asked half the sample if she should resign without the specifics. In that case 66% said Don't Know & the Conservative resign figure fell to 17% - so the specifics do make a difference vs general resign.

We asked whether people thought that Michelle Donnelan should resign when the figure was £15,000 and 66% of the public thought that she should - including 64% of Conservative 2019 voters.

🧵 Today, we broke the news that the government paid more than £23k in legal fees relating to the Michelle Donelan libel case—in addition to a £15k settlement. It's now being widely reported.

In the wake of our J.L. Partners The Rest Is Politics poll showing only 13% of Brits trust Rishi Sunak to put up a shelf, Freddie Hayward of the New Statesman has summed up perfectly the public’s current view on the PM and Starmer.

Honestly think one of the biggest wildcards of this election could be if large numbers of voters look at both and decide they want neither. Either staying at home or jumping to other parties in the process.

Too many Tories seem to rely not on what research says about 'their' voters but on what their favourite news outlets tell them about those voters. Nothing new in that perhaps. But I'd suggest it's getting increasingly common - and increasingly problematic.

Here's the graph, based on a 2020 research paper. Personally, I found this quite interesting, but even if you didn't, you can't claim that they don't explain why height has been included.

I make no judgement on the rest of the report, its recommendations, or the evidence base - or the point this is trying to make. Not my area and I haven't read a detailed ~400 page report (nor have many of those commenting on it).

But there are ~1k RTs for this claim.

Except this isn't true.

The preceding para (6.8), and the footnote to the graph, make it explicit that height 'is included to provide a familiar comparator for contextualising the sizes of the behavioural/psychological sex differences'.
