I've been haunted by this image all day. People saying 'yeah, but the rules, the laws...' to explain this nonsense away. As so often, 'the highest British attention to the wrong detail'.

In 2005, Brentford were in League One and had £7m debt.

They got Premier League Southampton at home in the FA Cup and got a replay.

That run earned the club over £500k.
