Just getting ready to watch Kings-Pelicans when this thought struck: If Pelicans lose, they will have squandered three chances to earn three different playoff seeds: Sunday vs. Lakers (for 6 seed), Tuesday vs. Lakers (7), tonight vs. Kings (8)

If this really was Klay Thompson's final game in a uniform, well, it was a sad farewell. Story from Sacramento on Thompson's scoreless outing in lopsided play-in loss to the Kings: sfchronicle.com/sports/warrior… via San Francisco Chronicle

Kings fans exuberantly start 'Light the beam!' chants.

Meantime, in courtside seat, owner Joe Lacob crosses his arms on his chest and glumly stares at the floor.

And coach Steve Kerr clears his bench with 2:13 left. Hard to imagine a more deflating end to W's season

One thought watching tonight's game: The value of ball pressure. Legendary coach Pete Newell preached ball pressure, right Bruce Jenkins? Kings have been persistently pressuring Curry on the perimeter, and it's disrupted Warriors' offense

Kings extend four-point halftime lead to 15 after three quarters. look old, tired and outmatched athletically. If their season ends tonight, and it's obviously tilting that way, it will be fascinating to see how owner Joe Lacob and GM Mike Dunleavy reshape roster

Steph Curry took 38 shots (and made 20) in Game 7 of last year's playoff series vs. Kings.

He took only 5 shots (and made two) in tonight's first half.

Kings, and specifically Keon Ellis, playing excellent defense on Curry

trailed 48-34 with 4:47 left in the first half

So they outscored Kings 16-6 to trim deficit to four (54-50) at halftime

Curry scored none of those 16 points. Kuminga with 10 and Podziemski, Wiggins and Green with two each

Second half will be fascinating

Curry should get one point for dribbling through four guys at midcourt, heaving a shot and bouncing it off the backboard and rim

Jonathan Kuminga makes three consecutive smart decisions and scores six straight points. Two mid-range jumpers and a drive past Sabonis and twisting, left-handed bank shots. desperately need that with Kings smothering Curry. Sac lead down to 8

It's very early, yes, but Klay Thompson is 0-for-4 from the field. He went 4-for-19 last year in Game 7 in this building (also an elimination game). And 3-for-19 in Game 6 last year vs. Lakers (also an elimination game).
