The mainstream & certainly most 'leaders' act as if we live in a virtual reality we can program as we like – 'Let's keep up our energy addiction! More growth, consuming, & fossil fuels!'

rather than seeing that our SURVIVAL DEPENDS on nature & we have messed up its heartbeat.

Counterpoint: a steep wealth tax, combined with our ability to reign in the power of πŸ‚πŸ’©-spouting billionaires, will dramatically reduce all GHG emissions and biodiversity loss, 'making every single last aspect of our lives better.'

More than 130,000 people have been displaced and at least 100 have lost their lives as a result of the heavy rains and flooding that have ravaged parts of Kenya. This tragedy highlights how climate change-fueled extreme weather events are causing immense human suffering.

Health, not economics, should have been the focal point of climate research, reporting and policy, including in IPCC reports, from the start. Sadly it's still a huge gap, and we will all pay the price.

In a sane society this would be the most well known image in the world.

But I don’t think I’ve ever seen it printed or broadcast by the news media or referenced by a politician or mainstream journalist.

While American media focuses on the tone of protests in universities- this is the reality of what has been unfolding in Gaza. This is the value attributed to Palestinian lives- where discussing protests against genocide is more important than mass graves of those murdered.
