It’s almost surprising that we’re surprised, when we see such things - we’re animals too, we just happened to work out how to make fire and then.. well πŸ›žπŸ—οΈπŸŒ†πŸš€ But it’s magical to feel reminded that these are our cousins, and that mammals who feel safe just want to connect πŸ€—

A Good Life within Planetary Boundaries? Yes it’s possible πŸ™ŒπŸ» if we shift our priorities from excess (aka unlimited growth?) to β€˜Sufficiency’ - seems reasonable. See Doughnut Economics Action Lab (DEAL) for how Doughnut Economics works 🍩

Most brownfield makes sense, but not this in such a dense area. If you can’t fit in all the amenities people need (including access to nature, like ACTUAL nature, not just mown parks and a scattering of trees and planters) don’t put more humans there either. ✌🏻

What a beautiful quote from an encouraging read. Thanks for sharing Esme Ward and thanks for writing John Harris - we would love to chat if you’re interested in some of our stories of land struggle and reconnection πŸ’š

BNG seems moot unless the land has permanent protection. Climax habitats like woodlands and meadows take decades to establish, but after 30 years BNG land could just be built on. It should NEVER be used to enable development on greenfield land πŸ™πŸ» Andy Burnham

We’re planning to be there and have submitted a question about giving urban space like the same protections as Green Belt land. Let’s see what they all have to say!

We measured significantly lower air pollution levels in πŸ“‰compared to neighbouring streets πŸ“ˆ. Ask Andy Burnham to protect our precious green lungs 🌳🫁🌳 Please don’t build on our urban ! πŸ™πŸ» ChorltonLabourVoice Health at Manchester Met Manchester Metropolitan Uni Bev Craig Mums For Lungs

πŸ™Œ Yes! our nervous systems evolved to seek out and be alarmed by sterility. The field of research around is really engagingly explored in The Nature Fix by Florence Williams, here's a YouTube trailer for her book youtu.be/iwQkTuhId-o

πŸ‘€This is the reality of offsite BNG (Biodiversity Net Gain) It takes many decades, maybe a century for a field to rewild to woodland (look at our own example ) and BNG agreements only guarantee 30 years of management and protection.
