Contributing to this article kind of did leave me wanting to click that nicely-placed button lol.

I'm glad I fought against harassment from individuals and institutions trying to push me out. But Christ I'm tired. Change has slowed if not reversed.

Amazing discovery! And a mystery for theorists: recently many assumed such heavy black holes cannot form in the Milky Way as stars lose too much mass through stellar winds!! 😮😮🤩🤩

Wow! For the last decade, astronomers have been mumbling about low metallicity as a way to produce the massive BHs we see in gravitational wave events. Here is the first empirical validation of these models! And a giant, only 600 pc away. There must be a boatload more.

Gaia spots Milky Way's most massive black hole of stellar origin! It's 33 solar masses, dormant, 2nd closest to Earth at ~2000 light years away, part of a wide binary with an old giant star, with estimated age of 11 Gyr: youtu.be/cU00B-6DeSQ cosmos.esa.int/web/gaia/iow_2…

A fourth anchor for H0! 🤯 Great work by Louise Breuval, with data in paper, of new H0 Cepheid cross check (74.1±2.1). And yeah, I’m aware of a recent CCHP talk, my suggestion is to wait until there is a paper with data out. With the number of published cross checks (e.g…

Look at that sky localization! The first candidate of O4b

If real, the source is probably a binary black hole

Dear anyone who cares (inc Jonny D on ).
It's BOZE-on, not BOCE-un.
The name celebrates two physicists, Peter Higgs, and Satyendra Nath Bose who 100 years ago (June 1924) who conceived a whole class of particles, and was ignored till Einstein took up his case.

I'm sure many other people will have many valuable and important takes on the sad death of Peter Higgs, a great physicist and a gentleman. I will add two things: 1) he was a union man. 2)his favourite pub from his time in London was:- londonpubexplorer.com/central-classi…

RIP to Peter Higgs. The search for the Higgs boson was my primary focus for the first part of my career. He was a very humble man that contributed something immensely deep to our understanding of the universe.
