I am shocked and so, so upset by the news of Leslie Jordan passing away. He really felt like a friend, didn't he? He put a smile on so many faces that thought they no longer had a reason to, ever again. Why does it always have to be the golden souls, Lord?

As soon as I wake every morning, I remind myself that all human beings are the same as me—we all want to be happy. I resolve to use my life to ensure that other beings are happy. It’s compassion that brings about peace of mind, not anger and hatred.

I’m sitting in my room way up in a hotel in downtown Nashville and thinking about when we were teenagers and old redneck broke my buddy Chris’s heart by telling him that his songs weren’t any good. I can hear Before He Cheats blasting from the street. Chris wrote that one

I LOVE THIS. I did it one year and had the meat sweats for a week. 🤣🤣🤣

The passing of Bernard Shaw brings to mind what a good man and accomplished pro he was. A pioneer who helped cut a trail for other Black journalists in TV news. Knew him well, admired him much and have many fond memories that will endure. Rest In Peace, Bernie. You earned it.
