While cleaning the hull of our work boat, we came across native oyster spat, a clear sign the 350,000 oysters we’ve put on the Loch Craignish seabed are reproducing and on their way to becoming self-sustaining beds, while cleaning the water and enhancing biodiversity.Yes!

Lovely afternoon out in the lashing rain with Ullapool Primary searching for the wee beasts of the tides. No one moaned! I put a warm filter on two of these picture, it doesn't help. Seawilding - Native Oyster & Seagrass Restoration 🌧️🐟🌈

In August, over the course of four dives, BSAC divers helped harvest over 10,000 seagrass seeds with Seawilding - Native Oyster & Seagrass Restoration
These will be replanted and used in the effort to restore seagrass habitats in Loch Craignish - a successful collaboration! Here's to more!

The Loch Craignish native oyster beds are coming back to life with thousands on the seabed helping to restore lost biodiversity and remove nitrates and phosphates. This brightly-marked batch is one of the many science projects helping to refine methodologies and monitor success
