Radiographers are the unsung heroes of the NHS. Responsible for x-rays, MRI, CT scans & radiotherapy for cancer patients, 9 out of 10 patients are supported by them.

But their profession is in crisis. I spoke to SCoR Members about why they're on strike.

The NHS is in crisis now.

We need an immediate plan which includes: a good starting salary to attract trainees; pay restoration over a reasonable time to retain colleagues; and an end to the long-hours culture and dependence on expensive agencies.

Tomorrow, SCoR Members take strike action.

Radiographers produce the vast majority of the medical imaging we rely on: X-rays, CT scans, MRI scans. Most are band 5 and none are paid appropriately for the level of skill they bring to work.

Gone under the radar but radiographers going on strike from tomorrow is a major deal. They are responsible for carrying out x-rays, MRI and CT scans as well as radiotherapy for cancer patients.

Nobody can cover their roles. This could be more disruptive than doctors' strikes.
