There is really no point of academics in humanities and social sciences if they can’t stand against a genocide and with students standing against a genocide. This has to be the lowest bar of morality conceivable.

it’s so embarrassing how columbia university admin will do heinous things to students (evicting them, suspending them, etc) and then be like “wow i’m so sorry i had to make this choice ❤️ my life is so difficult”

wtf is the point of having a tenure track job if you can’t even stand in solidarity w/ your students?? Like wtf are we even doing if we’re not helping them fight the good fight? Isn’t that what teaching is about? Taking what happens in the classroom and applying it to the world?

Academia is full of professors who made their names publishing radical history and theory only to prove themselves utterly unpolitical and cowardly in moments that demand principled action. They shouldn't be allowed to stay quiet

Truly surreal

I saw an interview with someone on faculty at Columbia who said administrators first suspended students *so* that they could then arrest them for trespassing. Evil.

As my employer - Columbia University University - calls armed riot police into campus to smash a peaceful protest against a genocide, we must all speak out. My former students have been arrested. I'm proud of you. History will be too. Remember what I said in our first class last year:
