WSBT Serious question: why can’t WSBT reporters write the story that gets posted online. They read as if someone simply—and w/o thought—transcribed the video. Most of the time they read poorly & have many mistakes that strike me as shameful for journalists to publish.

Adrian McKinty Sharon Honeycutt I think I need to start an event named “Drinking with Duffy” where we sample good whisk(e)y and listen to the audiobooks in serial.

Sharon Honeycutt Adrian McKinty Professor Paul Sheats probably deserves any credit. I remember him going through that poem at the very beginning of his intro to the Romantics like it was last week. Would sit through those classes all over again if I could.

Adrian McKinty Sharon Honeycutt Wow! I live out in the sticks (is that culchie in Irish slang?) but I do know a pub that would maybe do something fun like this in the nearby “city” (20K) down the road!

Sharon Honeycutt david ridgen Yes, we had fun as a family. We went to the lake had a look. I felt more connected to my small community, family, folklore, and felt grateful that I had a chance to explore my local areas. The lake is beautiful, and felt very reflectative. We took time to remember Adrian.

Sharon Honeycutt Adrian McKinty Piggybacking on this. First time I saw it was in a Burns poem as an undergrad. Then it was maybe 25 years, but recently it's been all over it seems. Maybe that's down to my reading selection (Brookmyre?). In Ireland, would it be mostly Ulster Scots using it?

erin Sharon Honeycutt no I made a mistake there, the blend is Johnnie Walker but it doesn't actually make it into the pic, the other bottle is Glenlivet...

erin Sharon Honeycutt I actually did an event once at the Calgary Writers Festival where I did various readings from the Duffy books followed by whisky samplings inspired by the reading...

it was a LOT of fun...

Sharon Honeycutt Lucretia Simpson I would venture that the entire McNaughton family would be touched that someone took the time to go to Holmes Lake and think about Adrien. The 'fun' aspect being referred to in the post, in my opinion, emanates from the space itself - beautiful despite the horrible tragedy .

Adrian McKinty Sharon Honeycutt The blended Scotch, that wouldn't be a Johnny Walker Blue, right? No way Sean can afford that 😀

Why is Sean drinking Scotch when he can drink real whiskey (emphasis on the 'e')?😀
