The days of teachers accepting wages that fall further and further behind must end. Retirements are up. Recruitment numbers are down. Teachers leaving the profession prematurely are up. Teacher college application numbers are down.

I’m amazed at teacher contracts…specifically what little time (prep) is provided for teachers to actually get stuff done.

If teachers ONLY worked contractual hours, 90% of the needed work wouldn’t happen even for the most efficient ones. 🤔

IF YOU THINK TEACHING IS…
•Easy
•Receive 3 months off, including holidays
•An 8am-3pm weekday job
•Receive a great pension you don’t pay into
•Everyone respects you

You’re in luck! America is currently short more than 300,000 teachers. Go get that great ‘easy’ job! 😜😂

Things parents should care more about than what pronouns their teens use:

- bigger class sizes
- sweltering classrooms
- reduced supports
- deteriorating buildings
- reduced course offerings
- violence in schools

But sure, their pronouns are most important, right?

So the Ford government is actually running radio ads to try and justify their corruption?!? At taxpayers’ expense?

This has got to be against the rules. @maritstiles?

Inexperienced teachers should start in kindergarten where it's 'less demanding': Que. education minister! Such a BS attitude by elected officials who know nothing of the demands.

The following shows the growing wage gap between A4 teachers (11+ yrs) at TCDSB and St. Michael's College School. What started as an 11.3% discrepancy has grown to 17.1%. Surprisingly to some it's NOT TCDSB teachers making more! So much for being the highest paid teachers!

How many parents know that right-wing news media & Conservative politicians’ reports of 39% failure rates on EQAO means that 61% of Ontario’s students earned 75% or higher on the assessment? 50% is not a pass on EQAO assessments: 75% is. 74% is a failure.

A YES strike vote is necessary. Too many young teachers don't know about Doug Ford's brother, Rob, and his 2012 antics while 'negotiating' with cupe local 416. Not having a strike vote allows an employer to impose a contract 17 days after a no board report.

As a teacher...
I’m tired of being blamed.
I’m tired of large class sizes.
I’m tired of the lack of support.
I’m tired of the lack of pay.
I’m tired of standardized testing.
I’m tired of the addition of tasks.
I’m tired of all the so-called ‘experts’.
I’M TIRED.

A teacher friend recently decided to make this year his last (9 years early).
I asked him why, he said

1 Class sizes are ridiculous

2 Zero accountability for parents, students 🙁

3 Too much testing 😤

4 Admin was overwhelmed & set up for failure 😨

5 Frozen salary, low pay

Pushing private mediation makes sense for Lecce: his government is used to doing things behind closed doors. He wants to offer a bad deal, make it so the teachers can’t reveal the details, and then blame them for the negotiations not going well. Keep it public, teachers.

I’m not saying this would be for the better, but I wonder how bargaining would differ if our services automatically ended when our contract expires instead of the old contract just continuing indefinitely… 1/2
