In commemoration of the Ottoman aid, Drogheda added the Ottoman crescent and star to its coat of arms. Their football club’s emblem retains this design till this day.

General Liam Lynch, Chief of Staff Anti-Treaty IRA Commemoration Knockmealdown Mountains

6th April marked the 100th anniversary of the death of Óglach Seamus Hickey, C Company, 9th Battalion, Cork No 1 Brigade IRA. He died from injuries/typhoid fever.

(A commemoration will be held on the Sunday 14th April at his graveside at 1.00pm, by the Cork Fenian Society.)

Remembering former Hunger Striker Liam McCloskey who died on 9 April 2022

Liam joined the 1981 hunger strike on Monday 3 August (day 157). At that time Liam McCloskey, from Dungiven, Derry, was 25 years old.
