Hooray for the humble hedge. It's National Hedgerow Week!

A much overlooked street inhabitant is the hedge. It doesn't just add visual appeal, it also:
🥁Reduces noise
🚗Captures pollution
🐞Creates an environment for wildlife
🫧Reduces localised flooding
😎And creates a sense…

A friend recently said to me:

So many have such short memories…

We don't have to look far to see how powerful, directly elected, Mayors across the world have led to corruption and to policies and actions that mainly benefit the already powerful and wealthy. We actually need strong and effective collegiate leadership teams working for people.

The sheer scale of the flooding in the metropolitan area of Porto Alegre, Brazil, which is home to over 4 million people, is hard to comprehend. Thousands of homes flooded, towns cut off, dozens killed, hundreds missing.
