Canada completed 0 of the TRC’s Calls to Action in 2023. At this rate, we won’t see them finished until 2081.

The new National Chief Cindy Woodhouse is being sworn in - in Ottawa, Algonquin territory. As the second elected female chief, I know that our young people will look up to her as an example of strong Indigenous female leader paving the way for many. I applaud her. 👏🏼

I paid tribute to the new totem pole dedicated to the many Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women along the Highway of Tears near Prince Rupert. For me, this is part of the process of reclaiming spaces of lawlessness. There is a continued presence of our ancestors looking over us.

I watched the Buffy Sainte-Marie doc today. I view her shifting identity as her best performance. Pretendians perform Indigenous identities. It is the worst act of settler colonial violence when our Indigenous cultures are appropriated and Indigenous laws are used to prop it up.
