A very unusual transient blue glow in a storm tower in Oklahoma. I have caught maybe a dozen similar events over the years, but still don't have an explanation. Looks like maybe bipolar leader development at the edge of cloud, but why blue color and why such a big area of blue?

The clouds opened up briefly from the Mauna Kea access road as distant storms boiled over Hilo. For a short while, Orion was visible as it rose over the scene. In this shot, right before the clouds took over, a storm tower lit up with lightning as a fireball grazed the horizon.
