Horizontal thrust (shear) at th bottom of rigid frame columns can hav huge design implications. Ths horizontal thrust is a function of th span of th rigid frame. The longer th span - the larger the thrust. These forces can b huge & can really impact anchorage & foundation design!

I took my camera for a ride and didn’t realize it was slush cup day when I left. This is traffic heading from Girdwood to Anchorage about 8pm.
