My network of new acquaintances and ex-colleagues after 2020 is maybe 1-2, and it severely limits my ability to find new jobs/gigs. It is much more effort to connect with fellow devs virtually and I am slowly making extra efforts to reach out and build deeper connections.

Talking to a friend that got promoted to staff recently: Tells me most of it is boring , dumb work , but that's how he can get org to improve: by working on the small annoying bits that people just relegate for later and then improving exp. for the entire team.

Ever wondered how debuggers can figure out the name of the variables, the fns being called , the type of the structure etc ? DWARF is a std. way of embedding this info into the executable/object file. you can inspect this using the `dwarfdump` tool on macOS (thanks chatGPT).

দেবাদ্রী | Debadree My CV goes to hiring manager only after leetcoding in most cases. You could be kernel driver writer, but still have to do LC in a lot of companies.

Failure is fine. Think of interviewing as gambling. 10 interviews. 1 clicks, maybe. Shrug and move on. Learn solutions by rote, understand, copy paste code, cheat, do whatever it takes. Stupid problems need stupid solutions

Steelmaning Leetcode Pros:
1. Interest and ability for solving puzzles is a good proxy for curiosity.
2. You need lots of prep. Prepared people succeed more than unprepared people.
3. In what other industry can you do 2 45 mins interview and get a 30% YoY hike ?

Flunking yet another leetcode test. I will never be good at leetcode in my life, so my options are severely curtailed to maximizing salary I can make in non-leetcode style interview companies. Sometimes, you just have to accept your local maxima and move on.

1. I don't catch up with people all the time. I am mostly a loner in my head and its fine.
2. Gave up on a lot of interests because my attention is scattered all the time. In my 30s, I am doubling down on a few interests as best and not gonna spend time exploring others.
