A bit windy out there today. Hard to believe that day boats will be landing here again in a little over two weeks! Plenty Fulmars back around Village Bay, seemingly enjoying the stormy weather.

Since someone reposted this on Instagram... the colossal sea bird Pelagornis pukes oil to attack a rival; inspired by fulmar chicks which do precisely this to render the feathers of predatory birds useless for flight or insulation, making the oil a potentially deadly weapon.

The fulmars have returned to the cliffs this week, they start to disappear out to sea during September, then at the end of November they come back and have a little get together on the sea before starting to have a look at the cliffs and come up with a plan 😁

Kittiwakes were making plenty of noise around the cliffs this morning - many sitting on their nest sites and making plans for the next few months. Loads of Fulmars and a few Razorbills also present, but Common Guillemots all out at sea. First Puffins due in about 10 days 🀞
