Did Graham Gooch really set his away message as 'I'm out, probably lbw to Terry Alderman'? If he did or not it was a common enough occurrence and this one, to the third ball of the innings at Lord's in 1989 for a duck, vividly illustrates the extent of his travails with Alderman

A memorable day of Test cricket &, as I recall, a case of what might have been for England. I still remember the frisson of excitement in the press box when David Gower walked out with Graham Gooch for the run-chase. 255 in 28 overs - these days a walk in the park!

Graham Gooch - underrated v such kind of bowling. But I didn't see a lot of him.

The best v peak* (and very good) WI - 1979 to 1992.

Inc.Monocle Used to draw wickets on a backyard gate with chalk or paint. Couple of older lads were excellent spinners a la Abdul Qadir (RIP) We were always Ian Botham or Graham Gooch. Good days

Nasir Jamshaid Her stance reminds me of Graham Gooch! Insha allah she’ll go a long way! And we all make mistakes brother, main thing is we learn from them. Chin up

sladl I think my favourite day of the series was the last of the 4th Test in Adelaide where Graham Gooch & Michael Atherton put on 200+ & gave England an unlikely chance of chasing 400+; it was the same Test Mark Waugh made a brilliant debut hundred, still one of my fav. innings.
