also just gonna point out that the Capitol in hunger games represents ALL OF US. those who are safe because of their economic and regional privileges. yes the met gala 'aesthetically' is closer to the movies, but the excesses of the capitol is very much about our everyday lives

It's actually so fascinating watching people analyse Taylor's emotions through surprise songs, esp how it relates to Joe/Matty. like it's less about the emotion itself and more the narrative that's easier to handle

what hunger games comparisons miss by focusing on the aesthetic of the met gala alone is that it was a commentary on the sheer injustice of ALL disparity. it isn't 'dresses bad' but that every extravagant thing we do - say the olympics or the superbowel - is out of touch
