I respectfully disagree with Dr. Schiff

1) The statement that RT causes 'permanent cognitive dysfunction and radiation necrosis' is inaccurate. In 2023, in the era of IMRT/VMAT and tighter margins (1/7)

In response to our #radonc study of IMRT for early glottic cancers we were asked:

“Why make a simple [treatment] more complex?”

Our answer: Minimizing toxicity matters. Isn’t an ounce of prevention worth a pound of cure?

We just published an FMEA study showing that alternative IMRT QA strategies can reduce risk in addition to being more efficient.

Concern in 2003 is (fortunately) proven unfounded by data in 2023.

診療報酬改訂で神経ブロック・緩和照射の体制があれば緩和照射の時に1回1000円。これは学会の緩和部門の話で聞いてて意外性はない。
某教授が近日中に緩和照射でもIMRTが保険適応、と書いてたのが本当か？IMRT専用機での緩和照射の矛盾を解消するのはいいことだが、事はそう単純でもないんだろう。
