Well I was to the cottage tonight in Queensport, Guysbough to button things up and secure everything before the Hurricane Fiona. Took some pictures of the Chedabucto Bay, the claim before the storm. Different story in 24 hour. Land fall is close to here. Ryan Hall, Y’all

Another old picture. This is an old concrete bridge or culvert spanning a brook that empties into Chedabucto Bay in Queensport, NS. The main road that became Route 16 ran across it a century ago. Artifact of a prior era.

In 1899,the lighthouse foundation was cemented and in 1900,Keeper David Hensbee was provided a hand-operated foghorn that was required to sound in response to signals from vessels in the vicinity during periods of limited visibility

Captain William Brailey Berwick, merchant navy, is named on the Howard Gardens school memorial plaque. He died in 1917 but interestingly in a sailing accident when his ship was in Queensport (Cobh), Ireland. Explains why no GWGC record.

Katy Jean Speaking of Mr. Stan Rogers. I always think of him whenever I travel route 16 and drive by the #queensport light.

I thought it was impressive enough to have the Queensport Lighthouse in my sight line but fortune doubled down & I’ve seen the International Space Station orbit 2x tonight (light going over the cottage).
