I (Shay) am learning more and more how important my body is to my spiritual practice. As someone who's had a... complicated relationship with my body all of this is a revelation.

I put them in my journal. I talk about them with close friends offline. I might even discuss with a therapist if I felt necessary.

But what I *don’t* do is gloss over the harm caused on Twitter dot com.

Not everything needs to be said in public.

There are Christian pastors/writers who were very influential to me at a time when I needed it and nudged down the path toward the person I am today.

And I can now see clearly that they are harmful to LGBTQ people.

Darin The Riverside Church Bummer!

If you're kind AND you say dehumanizing and harmful things to a vast audience who see you as an authority, who will cause more harm themselves... you're not kind at all. I don't understand why this is a controversial take.

But it's also a giant 'duh!' moment. Like of course how you sleep impacts your meditation and prayer practice. Whether or not you have an afternoon sugar crash, too.

You cannot do it alone.
You cannot get through a tough season or even day alone,
Let alone confront all the problems facing our world alone.

You need people and practices to support and sustain you. To soothe and inspire.
