Fantastic #DawnChorusDay walk this morning! Skylark, Yellowhammer, Lesser Whitethroat, Common Whitethroat, Linnet, Barn Owl, Sedge Warbler, Sand Martin, Swallow, Yellow Wagtail, Peregrine, Blackcap, Corn Bunting... and of course #Gannets and #Puffin !

Even though it’s choice of county is very poor this is still a totally bonkers record and the old adage of anything can turn up anywhere at anytime has just been proven. Better views than my previous record at Minsmere in 2002! Also Yellowhammer and Lesser Whitethroat year ✔️.

Few from local walk today and old coach Road near Kirkby including hunting kestrel grey partridge lots of yellowhammer and a few tree sparrow

Lots of birds singing in the trees & gorse at Alturlie including chiffchaff, blackcap, yellowhammer & my first local willow warbler of the year.

The early morning birdsong did not disappoint; chiffchaff, wren, dunnock, blackbird, song thrush, great tit, skylark, blackcap, linnet, and yellowhammer, all contributing to the mix!

If my recollection is correct this is the bit of the Operation YellowHammer risk assessment where the consequences where described as “severe”

First day since 14/4 that we haven’t had a Wheatear at Nightingale Ponds. We did have other migrants with Gropper, Lesser throat and Swallows galore. Bird of the day tho was Yellowhammer
