Burgruine Aggstein on the Danube in Wachau, Austria. Built at the beginning of the 12th c. by Manegold III of Aggsbach. In 1529, the castle was burned down by a group of Turks at the first Turkish siege of Vienna. It was rebuilt and equipped with embrasures for artillery pieces.
