On this day 32 years ago Philip Zimmermann released Pretty Good Privacy so that you could send an email without worrying that your personal data would be stolen. That almost took him to jail!

😳 this attitude is maybe why historians keep “discovering “ things that archivists have spent many hours cataloguing (original post re footman sorting late queen’s papers)

I still recall a conversation in the MOJO offices circa 2001 about how record companies would eventually run out of archive “rediscoveries” and yet here we are 22 years later and these two marvels land on my doormat. Never stop digging, archivists.

PRA 2205(3) grants former POTUS perpetual access to his docs. Where? Wherever he takes them. Because 2205(1) 'in custody of [NARA]' access requirement for archivists isn't required in section '(3)'👇The text is clear-§2205 title:

'Exceptions To Restricted Access'.

GAME OVER🚨

jarbot Arty 🧬 Elmwood Blues arkie_river_rat GregGutfeld Per 2204(e) Trump's attorney can file a Motion to Challenge Archivists Wall's determination to transfer Trump's 15 boxes of 'presidential records' to Biden. DC court has jurisdiction to entertain such Motion if Trump's privileges/rights were violated.
I don't see what's…

whenever i hear about a show being removed from its service, i always find myself thinking about this tweet from kristen schaal. just what is the point of all these streamers if there is no sense of permanence? no real way to document that you were a part of a project you loved?

What a lot of people don't realize is that to get these tax writeoffs, companies are legally required to destroy all known copies.

At this point, thank god for piracy. With this incredibly cynical corporate bullshit, the pirates have become the historical archivists of our era.
