A tiny and lovely Roman bronze pyxis (box) with intricate ‘millefiori’ enamel decoration, 2nd century AD. Perhaps used as an inkwell c. 1,900 years ago.

Discovered by a metal detectorist at Elsenham in Essex in 1990.
