Fragrant eucalypt smoke & the sound of didgeridoo greeted guests at our Embassy's official opening. For the 1st time Indigenous officers from all three Defence Australia services played together: SGT Lachlan Youll, LS Matthew Joseph & FLTLT James Evans. An honour, we thank you.

Great news for anyone wanting to learn more about eucalypts - I've now uploaded all of my photographic records (>4,600 records from 885 eucalypt species) onto iNaturalist!

A huge thanks to Eucalypt Australia for supporting me in this project 🙂

The delightful annual song cycle, ecology and often very confiding nature of these pretty little jewels of the eucalypt canopy make the Spotted Pardalote my favourite bird. This was a very challenging illustration.

It's hard to beat the colours of Salmon Gum (Eucalyptus salmonophloia) woodlands in the late afternoon light.
Land clearing has left this eucalypt's populations highly fragmented and as such, it is listed as vulnerable by the IUCN.

I got the seed to grow these trees from the side of the road in Wudinna. No idea what eucalypt it is. Doesn't matter. It grows and looks fantastic.

Happy from the Octopus Tree on kunanyi/ Mount Wellington, above Hobart, Tasmania.

This enormous eucalypt towers above its peers on the slopes of kunanyi, but the most remarkable feature is its many buttressed roots, engulfing an equally massive boulder.
