'Hughes does an amazing job of interacting with others from a place of pure love and acceptance.'

'This is not a book to be read quickly or only once.'

'I also love the amount of genuine care and affection that comes through on every page.

Imagine having such a fundamental misunderstanding of the appeal of reading fanfiction—let alone reading fiction more broadly. 🫠

reading fanfiction in my teens may have exposed me to some disturbing content but i will never regret it because at least i was able to learn the different between good writing and bad writing.

There are unwritten rules for fanfiction that the majority of people abide by but maybe this needs to said:

Rule #1: if a fic is unfinished, you (as a reader) don’t get to fucking finish it. You are NOT the author.

DO NOT USE AI TO FINISH SOMEONE ELSES FIC!

Everyone is tweeting about what queer books they read as kids that made a difference in their lives and like. I didn’t read ANY queer books until I was an adult? My intro to queer stories was fanfiction. (I will die on the hill that fanfiction is important and changed my life.)
