I'm about to finish the last of the 4 Gospels. Although I was raised in the Church, this was my first time studying these books page by page book after book. And I must say, Jesus was certainly not the gentle sissy teddy bear many try to make him out to be. Yes he is the lamb,…

Do not waste good things on people who will not appreciate them. This proverb is adapted from a saying of Jesus from the Gospels, β€œCast not pearls before swine.” Jesus appears to be warning his disciples to preach only before receptive audiences.

I think my favorite part of the gospels is when Jesus multiplied the five loaves of bread and two fish, and only gave them to his disciples because the crowd didn't work for them. Truly one of the Bible stories of all time.

Good people go to heaven when they die, right?

Well, according to the Gospels, not exactly. fathermikeschmitz points to at least four things Christ says we need for salvation:
1. Baptism
2. The Eucharist
3. Faith
4. Doing the Father’s will

In the Gospels, Jesus’ heart is moved with pity for the crowds (see Mt 9:36), and He tells us that He is gentle and humble of heart (Mt 11:29). The Sacred Heart of Jesus that began beating in the womb of the Blessed Virgin more than 2,000 years ago still beats today in the…

The Sacred Heart of Jesus excludes no one. If your 'Jesus' excludes, marginalizes, dehumanizes, or demonizes others, it is not the Christ of the Gospels you are following. βœŒπŸ½οΈπŸŒ€β€οΈπŸŒΏ

3rd Letter of St. Cyril to Nestorius:

For we do not divide up the words of our Saviour in the gospels among two hypostases or persons. For the 1 and only Christ is not dual, even though he be considered to be from 2 distinct realities, brought together into an unbreakable union.

In 40 years of ministry, I've seen an unfortunate pattern.

Some Christians start strong but eventually their passion for God fades.

I believe the key to avoiding this is a healthy, holy fear of the Lord.

Get my new book today to discover the uncommon path to finishing well.

β€œJesus' harshest words in the gospels were consistently aimed at religious leaders who focused on everyone's exterior behavior but never looked on the interior of their own hearts and the systems of hurt they perpetuated.”
