In the summer of 2019, I took this photo of a child playing just like how I used to

The rainbow, the childish joy, the cool mist on a hot day. It transported me back

When I started working on The Suburbs, I knew I needed to capture these feelings

Here are the preliminary sketches when starting the project.

The first idea was to have the water become a massive river that travels into the distance, highlighting childhood exaggeration

But I later opted for a simpler composition
