This is very irresponsible and causing a further delay in the analysis of ongoing, continually spreading outbreak.

Takes me back to the 1990's (I was at GenBank - NCBI then) when TIGR submitted its 1st genome & we had to cut it down to 350KB chunks, back then that limit was imposed by GCG not being able to process anything bigger. That limit, came from Yeast chromosome III which is 315 KB.

USDA APHIS is also sharing raw sequences to National Library of Medicine NCBI, search term “WGS of H5N1”: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sra/?term=WGS+…

Sequences posted are from cattle, cats, chickens, skunk, racoon, grackle, blackbird, & goose.
